Your first consultation will be at 7-8 weeks gestation, or in some circumstances, this can be even earlier - every new baby is different, and so is the care you need.

Private Obstetric Care for patients without Medicare Cover
If you have private health insurance with Pregnancy/Obstetric cover, but don't have a Medicare card, you are eligible to be cared for by Dr Saj Rathnayake. The majority of your costs will be covered by your health insurance, and Dr Saj has a low rate of $50 for antenatal appointments for patients without Medicare cover.
If you don't have Medicare cover, it can be very expensive to have your baby in an Australian Public Hospital. We can provide you with the out of pocket costs to help you compare the cost of having your baby privately vs publicly if you are not eligible for Medicare cover.

Enjoy Private Antenatal Care without Private Health Insurance
Patients without private health insurance and often referred to as 'self-funded' in hospitals.
Many people elect not to have private health insurance, but to instead pay for what they need, when they need it. If you don't have private obstetrics cover, but you'd like to have your own obstetrician, you can see me as a 'self-funded' patient.
Medicare will provide a rebate for some of your costs.
